University of Scranton Housing Registration

condronArranging for University Housing from Abroad
The following information was supplied by the Office of Residence Life. The Office of Global Education strongly encourages you to contact Residence Life well in advance of going abroad or early in your semester abroad at the latest. Remember that you will receive a $1,000 discount on your spring semester housing if you study abroad for the fall semester.

Fall Semester Abroad
If you have applied to study abroad for the fall semester you should still apply for housing through the lottery. This will cover your housing just in case your abroad plans fall through. Once you are confirmed as an abroad student, Residence Life will withdraw you from housing and refund your $200 housing deposit.

Spring Semester Abroad
If you have applied to study abroad for the spring semester you will still be able to apply for housing through the lottery from your abroad location. It is recommended that you contact Residence Life and let them know that you will need housing upon your return to campus.

Entire Academic Year Abroad
If you have applied to study abroad for the entire academic year you should still apply for housing through the lottery just in case your abroad plans fall through. Once you are confirmed as an abroad student, Residence Life will withdraw you from housing and refund your $200 housing deposit. Once abroad you will still be able to apply for the next year's housing via the lottery from your abroad location.

Returning to Campus For Intersession
If you are returning to campus for intersession we recommend contacting Residence Life to let them know you want housing upon your return. Otherwise, Residence Life should be contacting you while abroad in late November or early December. At that time you can either be pulled in to a vacancy that friends may have, or you will be able to select an assignment from our vacancy list. Room selection for study abroad students is usually completed by mid-December.
