Program Description:
St. Mary's
St Mary’s is a modern, friendly university college offering the best of both worlds: with just under
4,000  students it’s easy to feel at home quickly, but we're big enough to offer you all the challenges
and excitement of a full and rewarding student life. We are located in a pleasant part of South West London where a green space is never very far away. At the same time you have all the advantages of the busy towns  of Kingston and Richmond close by, and central London is only 30 minutes by train.

The buildings are steeped in history, being set in the grounds of the original Strawberry Hill mansion, a world famous example of the Gothic Revival style. The leafy,  self-contained campus also includes modern and well-resourced teaching blocks, accommodation,  Learning Resources Centre and sport facilities.

Established in 1850, we are respected as an established church university college with a reputation for high  quality courses. We have a Catholic history but you don’t need to be Catholic to come here – we welcome  students of all faiths and none. There are a variety of disciplines offered at St. Mary's. Offerings include courses in: Creative Writing, Cultural Studies, Drama and Applied Theatre, Drama and Physcial Theatre, Education, Social Sciences, Film and Television, Exercise Science, History, Irish Studies, Management, Philosophy, Theology, and Sports Education. Accommodation
Our international hall of residence is a beautiful 19th century Victorian property located at 16 Strawberry Hill Road, a two-minute walk from the University College and from Strawberry Hill Station.  Situated in a peaceful, leafy residential area  right next to our campus, the hall was refurbished in 2009 and comprises 18 single study bedrooms on three floors with shared  bathroom facilities on each floor.

The cost of the accommodation includes a meal package (available during term time only) which includes breakfast Monday to Friday,  brunch on Saturday and Sunday and a meal every evening. All meals are taken in the campus refectory, which has an extensive menu to suit a variety of needs.

Resident students will also have use of a kitchen as a self-catering facility for periods when the refectory is closed. As well as a  kitchen, the hall offers a dining room area, a common room and a garden. Free high speed broadband internet is available  throughout the building. Bedrooms are cleaned weekly and all communal areas are cleaned daily.  A resident staff warden lives next door to help students settle in and to ensure that you make the most of campus life. Student Life
When you come to St Mary’s you are welcomed into a unique community, and students have the support of  the St Mary’s Students’ Union. The University College is renowned for its sense of community and the Students’  Union plays a big part in that.

Your Students’ Union (SU) has a number of roles. It provides a formal representative structure to allow students  to air their views about their university college experience and to input those views direct to the St Mary's authorities  through its board and committee structure. The SU also adds value to your student experience by providing extra-curricular learning, cultural and social activities through its sports clubs, cultural societies and events and activities.   It creates a  hub for our student community where you can socialise in the SU bar and hall on campus in a contained and safe way –  a place where friendships are made and important networks are formed, allowing students to support each other through  their university college years and beyond.

Our active Students' Union (SU) and location mean we can offer you an exciting social life both on and off campus. The SU organizes  all kinds of entertainment, from weekly events through to annual major occasions like Freshers' Week and our Summer Ball. You can easily travel into London or to towns like Kingston and Richmond for cinema, clubs and theatres.

Support
We are renowned for our caring student-centered approach and the level of support we give to students. Student Services, the Chaplaincy team and the Students' Union work together to provide all the advice you might need, and to help create our community atmosphere.

Sport For All
We have an excellent reputation for sport with numerous successes every year in team and individual events. Our first-rate facilities make us an excellent choice for all from talented and committed sports people through to those who play sport or keep fit for fun.
