Housing during Summer Study Abroad
DIS guarantees housing to all students who request (and have paid for) DIS-arranged housing. The deadline for requesting summer housing is one month before the arrival date, but the sooner you sign up for housing the better. During the summer, Kollegium and DIS Residential Communities are the two housing options.

DIS Residential Community (DRC):
This is a residence hall in which you live with fellow DIS students. The facilities are all relatively centrally located and furnished. The sizes vary and two or more students often share a room. You will either share a kitchenette and a bathroom with your roommates, or share a common kitchen and bathrooms with fellow DIS students living in the same building. You will experience a great social life connected to your academic environment. More on DIS Residential Communities.

Kollegium:
This is a residence hall in which you live with Danish and international students that are attending courses at local universities around Copenhagen. As European universities usually do not have campuses, the rooms in the different kollegiums used by DIS are shared between many Danish universities and colleges, thus allowing you to meet a variety of students from many disciplines and backgrounds.

Something to keep in mind is that Danish students tend to be older that the typical American college student. It is normal in Denmark to be in your late 20’s or early 30’s and still be in school. Second, kollegiums are not operated by universities or colleges – they are free standing organizations. This means that they are not located on campuses, but rather outside the city center area. Please also note that all of our kollegiums are co-ed. You will never share a room (if you live in a double room) with someone of the opposite gender, but in some of the kollegiums you will share the bathroom and you will always live in co-ed halls.
